Surveys summarize current research pertaining to indoor and outdoor microenvironmental concentrations, sensitive subpopulations, indoor emission rates, personal exposures, as well as relevant regulatory approaches for a variety of contaminants of concern.
1993 - 1997
IT Corporation, Durham, NC: Environmental Engineer focused on improving and enhancing various EPA exposure models via input and output data acquisition, analysis, and summary. Worked closely with EPA researchers on the probabilistic version of the NAAQS (pNEM) exposure model as applied to ozone and the hazardous air pollutant exposure model as applied to mobile source pollutants (HAPEM-MS), as well the early research stages of the total risk integrated model (TRIM).

Professional Qualifications

Ms. Mozier, currently an environmental engineer and analyst, joined TRJ Environmental Incorporated in October of 1995. Prior to this date she and Mr. Ted Johnson, the founder of TRJ, worked closely together for International Technology Corporation's Air Quality Services Division. Her training includes education as a civil engineer and experience as an environmental engineer dealing with a variety of air quality, soil, surface and ground water concerns, with an emphasis on air pollutant exposure modeling. She has experience in the design, implementation, and analysis of personal exposure monitoring studies, including the development and use of microenvironmental pollutant levels and human activity data bases. Her work has focused on enhancements to EPA's probabilistic version of the NAAQS (pNEM) exposure model, as applied to ozone, and EPA's Hazardous Air Pollutant Exposure Model, as applied to mobile source pollutants (HAPEM-MS). Related to EPA’s rule-making procedure, Ms. Mozier reviewed and summarized EPA guidance and background technical memorandums concerning the establishment of maximum achievable control technology (MACT) standards. Ms. Mozier was also heavily involved in the research phase of the development of EPA's Total Risk Integrated Model (TRIM). Her TRIM work primarily included reviewing and recommending multi-media models, approaches, and databases for use in assessing non-inhalation risks to both humans and ecosystems. More recently, Ms. Mozier has conducted a series of literature surveys relevant to air pollution modeling in various indoor and outdoor microenvironments. One of her literature surveys provided data useful in characterizing the time a child spends outdoors with a high ventilation rate, and to provide personal monitoring data that could be related to energy expenditure, oxygen uptake rate, and/or ventilation rate. She also conducted a literature survey pertaining to the effects of tropospheric ozone and particulates on ultraviolet-B radiation. Most recently, Ms. Mozier conducted a literature survey pertaining to indoor emissions of benzene, formaldehyde, PCE, and TCE. Ms. Mozier has worked on air pollutant exposure projects funded by EPA's Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS) and the Atmospheric Research and Exposure Assessment Laboratory (AREAL), as well as the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI), the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI), the American Petroleum Institute (API), Health Canada, and RTI International.
